Who Made My Clothes?
Jamie is our finisher, finalising garments back from the machinists. Every button hole, button, dome and belt loop on every garment is the work and patience of Jamie. She is stepping up to manage the workroom, coordinating the many special orders and stock production. Jamie draws up patterns, cuts custom orders, stock and new designs.

This week is Fashion Revolution week and we are welcoming transparency and are profiling the small team behind Mandatory with the aim to answer the campaign question: #whomademyclothes

Who Made My Clothes?
Hannah is our store and digital content manager. She runs the day to day operations of the shop and co-ordinates fittings and suit consultations with clients. Hannah is also responsible for the website and social media channels. She regularly shoots new products in store to make sure guys (and their potential present buyers) are kept up to date with the latest arrivals. This is a huge role and she sets the pace for others to work to.

Who Made My Clothes?
Manisha is our multi talented graduate who splits her time between the workroom and the store. Some days she’s retailing in the store and other days she can be found cutting orders and stock in the workroom (or running in between the two with garments!) Manisha is also in charge of quality control and makes sure that all garments are pressed and tagged and have their finishing touches before they hit the shop floor.

This week we are welcoming transparency and have been profiling the small team behind Mandatory with the aim to answer the campaign question: #whomademyclothes

A weeks worth of earthquake strengthening at our Cuba street address saw us pop out of our shop and pop up in the peninsular for our very first #MandatoryMeetsMiramar pop up shop. Generously loaned the Sadhana Yoga Studio during the day, we took the best of our winter range out to the suburbs in hopes to meet some new clients and bring the goods to the hardworking Weta folk. We were blown away by the hospitality of the businesses in Miramar and the exceptional food on offer in this small neighbourhood. Lucas and Marianne of La Boca Loca made us feel especially welcome by hosting our launch on tuesday evening with close friends and staff. Coco at the Roxy fuelled us with coffee for the week as we met the man-folk of Miramar.

It was our first experience with the shop in ‘pop up’ format and we learned a lot - we have a few do’s and don’t stored away for next time. They say a change is as good as a holiday and we are feeling pretty darn excited to be back in our hood and in our Cuba street store, especially with it up to code and looking fresh and bright with a new coat of paint. Shop re-opens and resumes normal hours this Friday 10th of July

Mandatory is Excited to be a part of the 2015 Chinese New Year Festival in Wellington on the 14th - 22nd of February with the New Clothes for the New Year fashion show.

Wearing new clothes is one of the Chinese New Year traditions, it symbolises a fresh start and a new beginning to the year. A new piece of clothing to wear on this special day, be it a designer outfit or your casual must-have, even as simple as a pair of new socks, it's all in the spirit of sharing this occasion. Mandatory will be showing a mix of casual and formal looks to inspire wardrobe schemes for the New Year.

Entry is free and this event is held on Saturday the 14th Feb at the TSB arena. For more info get all the details at chinesenewyear.co.nz
